When things need to be done, it requires us to venture out. We must not be afraid of what surrounds us. No matter how dense the forest we must traverse is, we must take that first step. We cannot expect to blossom into our full potential without first being forced into undesirable circumstances and venturing through them.
An excellent metaphor for this is the function of a bow and arrow. We are the arrow, the bow is the external circumstance, and the archer is our god. We are grabbed out of the quiver and put onto this bowstring. All we want to do is fly forward, but the archer grabs us firmly and pulls us back; further and further, we are pulled back in life, against our desire. Then something happens, we are launched, flying through the air towards our goal, true fulfilment, landing squarely and burning ourselves into our target.
